♦ TARTLE ISLAND
[Distance from Isla Empieza]: Varies.
[Terrain]: An island carried on a gigantic sea turtle so roughly turtle-shaped.
[Weather]: Varied, though for inordinately bad days they have a bubble shield, a opalescent shield that covers the city to keep it from being blown off and/or washed off in the rare but necessary times when the turtle goes under. This shield is impossible to see through but dotted with filmy windows with the words TARTLE painted in red on the side.
[Is the island inhabited?]: Yep! About 2000 people call this island home.
[If so, what is the culture like here?]: Tartle Island is also known as either Sailor's Heaven or Pirate's Paradise, they welcome sea dogs of all shapes and sizes--though that being said, they are a neutral island, which means that the Navy could also be patrolling the green patterned streets.
Perhaps because of this, most of the residents will lie till they're blue in the face about their origins and the origins of their neighbors. They seem to be a mix of different cultures and lifestyles and a very tight-knit group at that. No one turns their back on another, no matter how much one tries to pry. On the flip side, they also don't want to know much about you--going so far as to almost, but not quite, remember your name.
[Island peculiarities]: The place is mottled with bars, inns, brothels, and a small petting zoo filled with tiny floating whales called Poots that fart pleasant smelling bubbles. They can also be sold as pets and larger Poots are used to carry wares/small eateries across the market.
Additionally, Tartle Island has a three day policy. That is to say, fish and visitors start to stink after three days so sailors better get going before things get ugly. Navy men included. This is barring extremely inclement weather or a necessary dive. However, even if forced to stay, visitors will be subjected to an increasing amount of hostility until they leave the island one way or another.
(Mod Note: Tartle Island will appear only occasionally, and its location will be announced about a week beforehand.)
