TURVEY TOP

[Distance from Isla Empieza]: A month.

[Terrain]: Idyllic pine forest pressed up in the foothills of a low-altitude mountain range. Think Black Forest but near sea level. There are a couple of rivers which form waterfalls and pools, numerous streams, and of course lots of tall, straight trees.

[Weather]: Summers are balmy but not too hot, full of golden sunlight. Winters are harsh with heavy snowfall and brisk winds that howl through the canyons. The longest seasons, however, are spring and fall, where the land is covered in mist. The sun burns it off but pockets remain, deep in the woodland.

[Is the island inhabited?]: Yes.

[If so, what is the culture like here?]: There are several villages dotted throughout the forest, built up in natural clearings or clustered around sparkling lakes. There are castles, both in use and in ruins. The villagers can be a bit... odd, however. Some may insist that the mouse in their pocket is actually their wife, or that the wolf lounging on the porch is their grandfather. Some are matter-of-fact about it. Others act ashamed. All talk of a witch who cursed (or blessed!) their loved ones.

[Island peculiarities]: As mentioned earlier, the villagers talk of a witch, and they aren't wrong. She lives in the forest but visits the towns regularly. She is very protective of her people, and often goes about in disguise. The nature of her curses vary depending on the nature of her encounter with the Outsider- if, indeed, she encounters them at all. She may decide to curse your character to change gender, species, hair color- or she may grant a wish, if your character finds favor with her. Effects last as long as players want them to.
