♦ YUEZHONG ISLAND
[Distance from Isla Empieza]: 5 days.
[Terrain]: Being a large island, the terrain is quite varied from lowlands to mountains, marshes to rivers. It is cut almost into two islands, though, by a large river that transverses east to west across the island. It is known as the Jade River, though the color is green only because it reflects the verdant trees that grow along its banks. It also has the third tallest mountain range in the world, with a single pinnacle that's known as 'the mountain closest to the sky'.
[Weather]: Temperate to sub-tropical. Arid in the mountainous regions. Though most will probably only see the sub-tropical coast unless they plan an extended stay/are invited/get lost/can avoid the military.
[Is the island inhabited?]: Yes.
[If so, what is the culture like here?]: Made of close-knit familial ties and under a strict imperial system. Inside the family it can be warm and caring, but they are pretty closed to strangers, and pirates? Forget it. Unless you get into one of the dangerous pirate towns on some shores and outlying islets. And even then outsiders are treated with a cold indifference. Though it is possible to form connections with time.
Though few understand what goes on in the interior, this island is best known for scientists, medicine, alchemy, and government ordained pirates that the government denies any ties to should they be caught by Naval forces.
[Island peculiarities]: Very hard to get into and once in very hard to get out of. But to those who succeed it is a place said to be rich in treasure. Enter if you dare.
