Cloud Islands

These islands are only accessible from May through August each year and can be reached using a Typhoon Grip (it's a little quartz stone on a chain), which you can pick up at the Backwater Brig -- your first one is free of charge, but any additional will be pricey. Attach it to your ship's Naviraimant, and when you sail under a Cloud Island simply activate the Nav and your ship will be ported to a random spot on the island. This counts as a Nav usage and you'll have to wait the usual recharge time to get back down.

[Terrain]: Full of abandoned cities, wide fields, stone quarries, small forests, and oddly picturesque bath houses.

[Weather]: Always thematically convenient to the situation at hand.

[Is the island inhabited?]: Possibly.

[If so, what is the culture like here?]: Whatever culture may exist here consists of one or a group of beings, always shadowed, always watching, maybe. It could be your imagination.

[Island peculiarities]: Eating anything from this island will give you an instant transformation sequence into either a magical girl or sentai ranger with no regards to gender. Not long after, something fairly evil will appear in a typical 'evil monster of the week' fashion and you must defeat it with the power of love, friendship, and specialized attacks.

Win enough of these battles and you will receive the Crystal Heart of Love/Friendship/Honor/Sarcasm/Fill in the Blank. While you will be able to transform at any time on the island after having eaten the food, transforming off the island will be impossible unless you’ve attained the Crystal Heart of Whatever -- though even then the transformation will only last up to thirty minutes and will need to recharge for two weeks.

Lose enough battles and you’ll wake up on your ship on the regular sea with only a faint knowledge that you missed something big and need to try again.
