CORSAIR KINGDOM

[Distance from Isla Empieza]: 3-4 days.

[Terrain]: An archipelago, so the terrain varies from island to island but for the most part, lush and gently hilly. In the center of the archipelago is a humid jungle, said to be impenetrable and dangerous.

There are villages and orchards throughout, though. The huts consisting of wood and straw on the noticeably poorer islands inside the archipelago, and of more precious stone and brick on the wealthier outer islands where the ports are. Only two of these port towns are welcome to pirates, so choose carefully. Going further into the archipelago is possible, but requires a good navigator.

[Weather]: Tropical and humid with dangerous squalls occurring in the rainy season. This combined with the shallow waters and sharp reefs around the outer islands means keen navigators are needed to keep ships from being grounded or sunk.

[Is the island inhabited?]: Yes.

[If so, what is the culture like here?]: The Corsair Kingdom was founded ten generations ago by a rugged band of pirates. It has since grown up into a fine, established and overall civilized monarchy. The culture is one of long comfortable tradition, ceremony and pride, with a slant toward politeness. Impolite people are tolerated but it's best not to piss off the locals.

Despite its pirate origins, the Corsair Kingdom is under protection from the Navy, which resides on the western outer islands. This is mostly due to the fact that they practically have cornered the market on tropical fruit. Their specialty is the Phoenix Fruit, a scarlet fruit with yellow veins that's both sweet and incredibly spicy. It's called this because it'll make you want to breathe fire but after it settles, you're revived and just want to come back for more. As this fruit is particularly hard to grow it's considered a delicacy throughout the world.

[Island peculiarities]: There is a rampant jungle, which, if penetrated, will reveal a crumbling stone city at its center. Directly south of the archipelago there is a dangerous whirlpool known as The Maw. The ships that are pulled in rarely get out.
