♦ GAMBOLLER'S BERTH
[Distance from Isla Empieza]: 5 days.
[Terrain]: Flat but full of roadways, raceways, and dominating the center of this small island, a giant coliseum with marbled arches.
[Weather]: Hotter than most, tending toward muggy, and rains more often than not.
[Is the island inhabited?]: Yes.
[If so, what is the culture like here?]: You won't find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy outside of Deesuko Ballia. And in fact, many in Deesuko make this their home away from home. There is no culture as such but a life of high stakes gambling, low stakes gambling, and just really nice steaks.
[Island peculiarities]: Though this is known as a gambler's paradise, what they're really into is racing and fighting. You can bet on all manner of animal races or fights (or try to free the poor beasties, though if you choose that route you'd better be prepared to run) You can even race yourself at the Rainbow Road Tavern which provides all manner of beasts from horses to raptorsto small Italian plumbers.
Alternatively, you can also throw your hat in the coliseum ring where only the strongest compete. Either man against man, man against beast, beast against beast, or stirring halftime shows that bring down the house. Entering as a fighter costs money, though, for every battle you fight. Though you do get a tip jar so those either spectacular enough to win the audience's favor or bad enough to win their sympathy should make a tidy profit.
And, as always, watch out for loan sharks.
